I’ve been reading a lot of reviews about different Asian series that they’ve watched, so I came upon an idea, why not try doing a review also. This is going to be my first series review so please bear with me. The first on my list is Remember: War of the Son. One of my favorite Yoo Seung Ho K-drama series, this is also the first K-Drama that I’ve watched continuously. Remember: War of the Son is a South Korean 2015 suspense-drama series starring Yoo Seung Ho, Park Sung Woong, Park Min Young, Naam Koong Min, and Jung Hye Sung.

WARNING: For those who haven’t watched the series, yet this review contains spoilers.

Synopsis:

The story revolves around SeoJin Wo (Yoo Seung Ho) a 22-year-old boy who has a special condition is known as hyperthymesia. Hyperthymesia is a condition where a person can remember or recall every single detail of information from his/her memory. He used this condition to become a lawyer to clear the name of his father who was falsely accused of murder and sentenced to death. His father suffers from Alzheimer’s that later died of cancer in prison. Jin Hoo together with his friend Lee In-A (Park Min Young) did their best to clear up his father’s name despite having rich and powerful enemies.

Thoughts and Learnings:

Storyline

What’s good about this series is that it shows the reality of imbalance between the poor and the rich people, that those who are in power can manipulate the law.

Characters

You Seung Ho who plays SeoJin Wo is such a great actor, from being a loving son to an attorney who executes fair judgment to clear his father’s name and to convict who the real culprit is. He wanted revenge in a lawful way even though the enemy is powerful and has the capability to manipulate the law. Law should be exercised fairly; it should be given to those who need it not to those who have wealth and power.

Lee In-A (Park Min Young) is a prosecutor with pride and dignity. A person whose dedication is to help people without anything in return. A trait that everyone must have that this character has is dedication. No matter how hard the situation is always do your best.

Park Sung Woong who played the role of Park Dong Ho, a lawyer who helps those people who have wealth and power. People like him exist in the real world, those who turn wrong things into good with the use of connection, money, and power. On the series, he used to side with those who have the money but later on sided with SeoJin which shows anyone can change. His character shows everyone deserves a second chance, or anyone can change.

Nam Gyu Man (Nam Goong Min) is the main antagonist of the series. He is a rich guy who thoughts everything can be bought with money. Just like in the real world many people like this exist those who manipulate everything with the use of power and money, but I always believe “KARMA IS A BITCH”. You might be able to clear your name by now but when the right time comes, you’ll suffer more than what you’ve done.

Ahn Soo Beom is played by Lee Si Eon who plays as the loyal best friend of the antagonist in the story. We all know that friends are those who will help us no matter what, but real friends must know how to disagree if the thing his friend is asking were wrong. There’s nothing wrong with supporting your friends but make it is on the right track.

Hong Moo Seok (Uhm Myo Sub) is also an antagonist of the series, he is a prosecutor that will do everything for the sake of money. I hate him so much. He is such a great lawyer if he uses it in the right way.

Appreciation

The series made me cry a lot. If you want to feel sadness, anger, happiness, frustration, and relief then I highly recommend you watch this series.  The series depicts true to a life situation. The characters were well balanced. The rich bad guy vs the simple gifted guy was very well paired, I’m sure they made you cling to the series and felt excitement on how they will both ends. The Couple In-Ah and Jin-Woo they were so cute together. They will make you fall in love with their tandem, you’ll smile when they smile, cries when they cry, I love them both.

The ending part is so painful (cries). Want to know why? Then you should watch this series. I can’t say it’s a bad ending, but I also can’t guarantee it is a happy ending. The only thing I can assure you is that you won’t be disappointed. Such a great series.

2nd Lead Syndrome: Actors that made us choose between the main lead and the 2nd lead.

Some Korean drama creators are so good at pairing characters. Some series make viewers fall not only with the main lead but also Its second lead. Even though we all knew that the lead girl always ends up being with the main male lead actor, but still we wished there is a romance between the 2nd lead actor and the main lead girl.

Here are some second lead actors that Im sure also made your heartache because of their rejected love.

Lee Do Hyun (Hotel Del Luna)

Lee Do Hyun is the main lead of the K-drama 18 again, before the series 18 again he was part of K-Drama titled Hotel Del Luna where he plays Go Chung Myun. He is Jang Man Wols’s (IU) past love. With Lee DO Hyun's handsome appearance, acting skills, and chemistry with IU, he did capture his viewer's heart and made them fall for his role as 2nd lead.

Seo Kang Joon (Cheese in the Trap)

Seo Kang Joon plays the role of Baek In Ho in the K-Drama titled cheese in the trap. He portrays a skilled pianist with a hot-headed attitude. Baek In Ho is a close friend of the main male character Yoo Jung (Park Hae Jin), that later on became an enemy because of his feelings for the main female lead Hong Seol (Kim Go Eun). He also thinks that Jung is responsible for why he did not achieve his dream to become a pianist.

Ji Soo (Strong Woman Do Bong Soon)

Ji Soo plays In Guk Doo in Strong Woman Do Bong Soon. He is Do Bong Son’s (Park Bo Young) childhood best friend and crush. He is a rookie detective that helps Bong Son capture a stalker that sends threats to Ainsoft CEO Ahn Ming Hyuk (Park Hyung Sik).

(When I Was Most Beautiful)

Another K-drama where Ji-Soo turned out to be the 2nd Lead is in his role as Seo Wan on When I Was Beautiful. Seo Wan falls in love with her teacher Oh Ye Gi (Im Soo Young). On the day when he plans to tell Seo Ji his feelings, things got complicated. Ye Gi meets Seo Wan's brother Seo Jin (Ha Seok Jin) who is also attracted to her. Even though Seo Jin knows his brother Seo Wan likes Ye Gi, he still did his best to get her and end up being engaged to her.

Jung Hae In (While You Were Sleeping)

Han Woo Tak (Jung Hae In) is a top-notch police officer. He has the looks, the brain, and the body of a police officer. In the series, he should have died already because of a car accident, but thank you to Jung Jae Chan (Lee Jong Suk), he was saved and later on developed the ability to foresee future events.  Woo Tak with Jae Chan and Hong Joo ( Bae Suzy), the three of them worked together to stop their bad dreams from coming true. As they live together Woo Tak started to develop feelings for Hong Joo but keeps it because he knew that Hong Joo has feelings for Jae Chan.

Lee Jong Hyun (Orange Marmalade)

Han Si Hoo (Lee Jong Hyun) is a vampire and childhood best friend of Baek-Mari (Kim Seol-Hyun). He has feelings for Baek Mari since they were a child. Sadly Baek Mari has feelings for Jung Jae Min (Yeo Jin Goo).

Kim Seon Ho (Startup)

One of the newest K-Drama before 2020 ends is Startup. Some of the main characters in the series are Bae Suzy (Seo Dal Mi), Nam Joo Hyuk (Nam Do San), and Kim Seon Ho (Ha Ji Pyeong). Even though the series is still ongoing many viewers already felt pain for the role of Kim Seon Ho. Imagine the handsome looks, gentleman aura, plus the caring characteristics will end up being rejected.

Why do directors do this to us?
